Master the art of mindful decision making to accomplish more, stress less, and squash self-doubt
It’s really hard to do great work when you feel overwhelmed.
No matter how smart or experienced or well-educated you are, everything grinds to a halt when overwhelm strikes.
Every little task becomes exhausting.
And no matter how much you check off your to-do list, things don’t get easier.
Worst of all, you feel like you’re not accomplishing anything. (Trust me, I know how miserable that feels)
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone:
- You sit down to work but immediately find yourself overwhelmed by the mountain of work you have to do because you feel like you don’t have enough time or energy
- You can’t find the clarity to decide what to focus on in your professional life because the huge number of decisions you have to make is overwhelming
- When you feel stressed, you start procrastinating because the last thing you want is more stressful sh*t to deal with
- You’re passionate about the work you do, but you often find yourself feeling burnt-out and despondent because you’re so busy that you’re just plain exhausted
And I would totally understand if you were starting to think about giving up.
But you don’t want to give up. You know there has to be a way to make this work.
Whether you’re working on a big (and intimidating) project, trying to level-up your career, or pushing yourself toward an ambitious goal, you can do this.
When I left my previous path (in academia) to run my own business, I went through many of the same struggles you’re experiencing now. In no time at all, I swung from the excitement of being my own boss to exhaustion, overwhelm, and uncertainty. I worried that I would have to give up.
But like you, I knew I couldn’t give up.
So I figured out how to overcome the overwhelm that I was feeling as a business owner.
And the new approach that I discovered made it possible for me to stay in business, get more done, and grow faster than I thought possible. So I created Overwhelm Optional to help high-achieving professionals master the art of mindful decision making.
Here’s what your life is about to look like:
- You sit down to work and know exactly what to focus on because you know exactly how to determine what’s important (and what’s not)
- You’re confident and excited about the direction you’re headed in your professional life because you know how to access the clarity you need
- You look forward to each new day because the stress no longer keeps you from getting work done — it fuels you to do your most important, high-impact work
- You discover that you can accomplish even more than you imagined because you’re more efficient than ever before
Before Overwhelm Optional, I was doubting myself. Now I feel much more confident in being able to handle the feelings that can come from being the one "in charge" of everything having to do with my business. This course provided me with practical, realistic techniques for managing the many things that can lead to a sense of overwhelm in running a business. Procrastination, distractions, expectations, and lack of motivation are a few of the things I have been able to overcome using his insightful and tailored methods.

You helped me get out of a very deep hole I was in for a very long time when it came to being overwhelmed, confused and frustrated with my business and even my personal life. I can not recommend Travis as a coach enough. He has such a upbeat and positive attitude and after every session I felt so motivated to do the things he suggested. Working through all the steps over the four weeks and completing the homework exercises has made such a big difference in how I feel - it's a great feeling to actually check things off my to-do list instead of feel like I keep adding to it! It's also a great system that I will be able to apply to my whole life, not just my business.

Founder, Josephine AmeliaI was totally burned out when I turned to Travis for help. I was scared of my email, and while I loved teaching, I felt completely drained. Working with Travis helped me prioritize what most needed to be changed and to set both external and internal boundaries that are helping me manage my studio more effectively as well as enabling me to maintain and improve my mental and emotional health. I feel encouraged and excited to start the new school year of teaching!

Why is this more expensive than self-help books?
One-on-one coaching is definitely a big investment (and there are quite a few mindset coaches out there who charge 10x this rate for a fraction of the hands-on time...not to mention questionable methods). But take a second and think back on how much you’ve spent on self-help books and productivity tools over the years. Why did they all fail? Because you can't ask a book a question -- no matter how much the author might want, they can’t personalize content based on your unique needs. If you want to cultivate real change in your life, having someone to support you along the way makes it all possible -- and that’s what you get when you work with me: a teacher, mentor, supporter, and cheerleader.
Will you teach me practical skills that I can actually use?
Yes. A lot of coaches focus on softer, more “woo-woo” techniques for this kind of work. Not me. While that kind of work is helpful in some situations, I prefer to use research-based techniques that can be practiced in a tangible, straight-forward manner. This coaching isn’t a philosophical approach to mindset work. Rather than just giving you abstract concepts to think about, we’ll make sure that you’re actually able to apply what you learn in your daily life. Part of our calls will be devoted to making sure you’re able to connect the dots between the techniques you’re learning and the actual implementation. This way, you'll progress quickly and feel confident that you know how to continue to grow after the program ends.
Can you just tell me how to run my business so that I don’t have to think about it?
I’m not here to run your business for you. I’m here to do something much more valuable: to guide you to be your own business coach. In our work together, you’ll learn skills that allow you to confidently guide the course of your business and enjoy the freedom that comes from writing your own story. Throughout our work together, you'll gain skills that you can take with you and use forever.

Ames Asbell
Assistant Professor at Texas State University School of MusicWorking with Travis opened me up to a whole new way of thinking. Without his guidance, I don't think I would have ever realized the power that a simple mindfulness activity could bring to my life. His gentle support and encouragement allowed me to explore it in a way that opened me up to new possibilities not only in my own life but in the lives of the people I teach. I am eternally grateful to Travis for giving me the tools to embark on this path of greater joy and productivity.
